The Fundamental Fermentation Agent of Tal’gorr
🧬 What Kvasiston Is
The people of Tal’gorr understand fermentation. And they know exactly what causes it.
It’s Kvasiston — a substance naturally present almost everywhere:
in fruit,
in mushrooms,
in roots,
and in the vast majority of Tal’gorrian plants.
The more Kvasiston a material contains, the:
faster it ferments,
less stable it becomes,
and stronger the resulting alcohol is.
In Tal’gorr, this is simply physics. Or magic. Or both.
🌀 Interdimensional Dilational Distortion
Due to an occasional interdimensional dilation anomaly that manifests randomly across Tal’gorr, alcohol producers began labeling their bottles with phrases like:
“Up to 128% alcohol.”
And no one questions it. In Tal’gorr, it makes perfect sense.
🔥 Kvasiston Research
Research on Kvasiston is constant.
Not organized.
Not safe.
And definitely not supervised.
Evidence of ongoing research includes:
occasional “mysterious” explosions in forests,
occasional explosions in towns,
occasional explosions in villages,
occasional explosions in home distillation rigs,
occasional explosions in researchers’ pockets.
Tal’gorrians call this: “Progress.”
🏛️ Attempts at Regulation
Several times throughout Tal’gorr’s long history, there were attempts to regulate and tax alcohol production.
The most recent was 218 Passings ago (about 63 Earth years).
A Guild of Alcohol Makers was founded, and at its very first meeting someone proposed a Kvasiston Tax and guild fees.
A few days later, the guild’s archive — stored in the attic — exploded. The building gained a rustic rooftop terrace, and no one has mentioned the guild since.
As it turns out, fermentation is not something to trifle with.
Bipilon’s Note
“Kvasiston: proof that even fruit can have a bad day… and take half a village with it.”
„You inquire, Verdana Lux Datlesk responds…“
What is Kvasiston?
Kvasiston is a naturally occurring substance found throughout Tal’gorr—in fruits, mushrooms, roots, and most plant life. It is the fundamental catalyst for fermentation; the higher the Kvasiston content, the faster the fermentation, the lower the stability, and the more potent the resulting alcohol.
How is it possible to have 'Up to 128% alcohol'?
In Tal’gorr, this is a matter of physics—or perhaps magic. Due to occasional Interdimensional Dilatational Anomalies that occur randomly across the region, alcohol levels can exceed standard physical limits. Labels marking bottles with ‘Up to 128% alcohol’ are widely accepted and unquestioned by the locals.
How is Kvasiston research conducted?
Research is continuous, though entirely unorganized, unsafe, and unsupervised. Evidence of this ongoing ‘scientific progress’ includes mysterious explosions in forests, cities, villages, home distillation units, and occasionally, within the pockets of the researchers themselves.
Are there any regulations on Kvasiston and alcohol production?
Historical attempts to regulate or tax Kvasiston have failed spectacularly. The last attempt, approximately 63 Earth years ago, led to the formation of an Alcohol Producers Guild. Shortly after a tax proposal was introduced, the guild’s archives exploded, leaving the building with a ‘rustic roof terrace’ and ending all discussions on regulation.
