Location and Significance
Nyokap lies in the far north of Earein. It forms a natural boundary between:
the forested inland (Datlesk, Shademist)
the rocky northern coastline and the ocean
It is the northernmost prominent landform of Earein — long, uneven, but not a true mountain range.
Shape and Terrain
The height of the ridge varies:
some sections are tall and steep
others are low and gentle
These lower stretches allow the formation of the phenomenon known as “The Mist and Its Guide.”

Two Mist Systems
Nyokap is the meeting line of two distinct types of mist.
1) Ocean Mist
comes from the northern ocean
cold, heavy, salty
clings close to the ground
rolls toward the base of the ridge
2) Earein Forest Mist
rises from Datlesk and Shademist
warm, light, moss‑scented
climbs upward along the slopes
Where They Meet
At the very top of the ridge, the two mists touch but never blend. This rare balance is the reason for the name:

Mist is present almost every day. Sunlight appears only briefly, usually as a diffuse glow. Temperatures are lower than in the rest of Earein due to ocean currents.
The Acoustic Pocket
Nyokap is the only place in all of Earein where echoes can form.

forest mist scatters sound
but on the ridge, an acoustic pocket forms where sound can bounce back

and only here can Esh’thar (the Echo Crystal) be born
